With the companies we invest in, we are “all-in”. We only invest in business models we deeply believe in and if we do, the company is not only gettig a capital provider but a partner that is fully committed. At the core of our believes is that capabilities (aka competencies) are the core of a successful business model. We work with our companies to develop and acquire capabilities and then translate those into execution. We focus on business models. Technology is the basis for change and disruption but the ability to monetize the technologic change is at the core of value creation and that is where we work with our investment companies. Our team members have an extensive network of international strategic and financial investors. Strategic partnerships are part of our success story and will be for our companies.

All-in

It means for us that by investing in the company, we are becoming part of it. The company’s success is our success and we will not leave a stone unturne to contribute to this joint target. It is a cultural mantra we adopt and we are passionate about that. It also means that we need to strongly believe in the company’s business model and capabilities when we invest. Purely financial restructuring cases may be profitable but that’s not who we are. Others are better at it. Every entrepreneur knows that passion is instrumental for success. Passion is deeply aligned with culture and company culture is critical for long-term success of a company, small or gigantic.

Capabilities as raison d’être

Long-term success of companies is defined by the competitive capabilities they are able to build up and differentiate them through those. In a disintegrating markets, those capabilities are becoming even more valuable as a differentiator and raison d’etre. We work with companies to strengthen those capabilities that they can sustain in a globally competitive environment. We place strategic bets on the development of differentiating capabilties.

Challenge everything: Business models

Capabilities are critical for the companies existence but business models and the ability to monetize the capabilities are what drives the financial success of a company. In technology enabled enviornment, business models are changing faster than ever before and offering solution to particular needs of customers and matching those with the right value proposition is essential. We work with our companies to challenge the existing business models and then put all of our energy on executing those.

Extensive network

As the market place become more global, competition on capabilities and business models does so as well. What works in Asia today, will be in the US within a short period and the same the other way. Not only is it easier to learn about new trends but also increased personal global networks enable a faster exchange. We are embracing it. If there is not way to scale the business model internationally within the two years of our investment, it may not be such a good idea or have limited growth opportunity. Together with our commitment international partners, we are continuously looking to aggressively bring new ideas to fast growing markets.
